La Liga: Real Madrid's Poor Form Continues (See Details)

The recent international break was not enough for Real Madrid to regain their form as they suffered another defeat at home to Levante piling the pressure on Julen Lopetugui.

In a bid to end a four-game winless streak, the Madrid boss made five changes to the team that started against Atletico Madrid last time out but Levante were two goals up in thirteen minutes courtesy of a fine Jose Luis Morales goal and a Roger Matri penalty and proved stubborn to hold out for a win at the Bernabeau.

In a game which VAR reminded us of its importance, Marco Asensio and Ruben Rochina had their goals correctly ruled out for offside just before the half-time whistle. Lopetugui sought to turn the game around with the introduction of Gareth Bale at half-time while Karim Benzema and Dani Ceballos soon followed.

The much needed breakthrough came after seventy-two minutes as Marcelo's right-footed strike from a Benzema's cutback found the back of the net but that proved a mere consolation as Madrid failed to salvage at least a point thanks to the woodwork and the heroics of Oier Olazabal in Levantes's goal.
The result piles further pressure on Julen Lopetugui whose side registered their first goal in five matches as they head to the Camp Nou next week. Only time will tell if he'll still remain at the helm in a couple of weeks.
